Patient Access/Services Specialist job description

The patient access/services specialist ensures smooth and efficient patient registration, scheduling and service coordination. This role is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, collecting accurate demographic information and providing exceptional customer service to patients and families.Working closely with clinical teams, billing departments and insurance providers, the patient access/services specialist supports front-end revenue cycle processes and compliance requirements. This position plays a key role in creating a positive patient experience and maintaining operational accuracy.

Typical Patient Access/Services Specialist duties

Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information for accuracy.Schedule appointments and coordinate services across multiple departments.Confirm insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures.Collect copayments and provide cost estimates when applicable.Respond to patient inquiries regarding appointments, billing and insurance coverage.Maintain accurate records in electronic health systems and ensure data integrity.Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve registration or scheduling issues.Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements during all interactions.
