This position focuses on designing, implementing, maintaining and monitoring security measures to protect systems, networks and data from cyber threats. Cybersecurity engineers work closely with IT teams, management and other stakeholders to identify vulnerabilities, develop defense strategies and ensure compliance with security standards. They also stay ahead of emerging threats by continuously evaluating and improving security protocols. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are essential in this role. Most cybersecurity engineers possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, often complemented by industry certifications such as CISSP, CEH or CompTIA Security+.

Typical Cybersecurity Engineer duties

Design and deploy secure network architectures to prevent unauthorized access. Monitor systems for security breaches and respond to incidents promptly. Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify risks. Implement and manage firewalls, encryption protocols and intrusion detection systems. Develop and maintain disaster recovery and incident response plans. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into software development. Prepare detailed reports on security incidents and recommend preventive measures.
