Accounting Manager Job Description

Accounting managers oversee daily accounting operations and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. They lead month- and year-end close processes, manage general ledger activities, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts. This role is ideal for professionals who have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to drive operational efficiency and financial integrity.

Typical accounting manager duties:

Oversee and manage general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and the general ledgerPrepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standardsLead month- and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliationsDevelop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure complianceCollaborate with finance and operations teams to support budgeting, forecasting and strategic planningManage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and performance feedbackCoordinate with external auditors and support audit processes with required documentationIdentify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting operationsEnsure timely and accurate financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders
