<p>Robert Half is partnering a growing global European healthcare business in the appointment of a Financial Controller in Manchester. </p><p>The business is on a growth trajectory and this is a newly created role supporting the CFO. </p><p>A detail-oriented Financial Controller is sought to take ownership of the day-to-day financial management of the business managing a small team. This role will play a key part in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and effective controls, while supporting senior leadership with timely and insightful financial reporting.</p><p>The business operates in a dynamic and highly regulated environment, so this position requires both strong technical accounting skills and the ability to operate hands-on in a fast-moving business.</p><p>You will be ACA or ACA qualified with strong technical skills and the desire to move into a more commercial role with support of the CFO. </p><p>Key duties will include:</p><p><strong>Financial Management & Reporting</strong></p><ul><li>Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, board packs and commentary.</li><li>Ensure timely and accurate statutory accounts, VAT returns and other regulatory filings.</li><li>Manage VAT compliance including partial exemption calculations, methodologies, and annual adjustments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC requirements.</li><li>Oversee all daily finance operations (accounts payable, receivable, payroll, banking, cash flow).</li><li>Create, maintain and improve financial controls, policies and procedures.</li><li>Manage the annual audit and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and HMRC.</li></ul><p><strong>Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis</strong></p><ul><li>Support the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.</li><li>Deliver variance analysis and recommendations to support business decision-making.</li><li>Monitor KPIs, providing insights into performance and areas for improvement.</li></ul><p><strong>Team Leadership & Development</strong></p><ul><li>Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring strong performance and development.</li><li>Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy and continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><strong>Systems & Process Improvement</strong></p><ul><li>Ensure finance systems are fit for purpose and drive automation where possible.</li><li>Streamline reporting processes to improve efficiency and insight.</li><li>Lead projects to strengthen financial governance and scalability as the business grows.</li></ul><p><strong>Skills & Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Qualified accountant essential (ACA, ACCA preferred)</li><li>Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally within an SME environment.
