  • <p data-pm-slice="1 3 []">Our client, based in Cambridge, is seeking an experienced <strong>Financial Controls Manager</strong> to join their finance function on a 9-month interim contract.</p><p>This is a broad role with responsibility for financial controls, month-end accounting, statutory compliance, audit and financial processes across a number of UK and international entities.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li><p>Manage the <strong>monthly accounting cycle and month-end processes</strong> across group entities.</p></li><li><p>Liaise with the <strong>FP&amp;A Manager</strong> to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.</p></li><li><p>Develop, manage and review <strong>financial policies, systems and controls</strong>, providing guidance and support to colleagues.</p></li><li><p>Support the <strong>annual audit</strong> across the UK and international group entities.</p></li><li><p>Prepare UK and Irish statutory accounts and oversee accounting-related filings</p></li><li><p>Ensure financial practices comply with <strong>Charities SORP (FRS 102)</strong> and other relevant regulations.</p></li><li><p>Review income treatment to ensure compliance with SORP, including <strong>partial exemption treatment</strong> and supporting documentation.</p></li><li><p>Oversee <strong>VAT, Gift Aid and wider tax compliance</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Lead and support the finance team, providing clear direction and ensuring effective delivery of key processes.</p></li><li><p>Manage the delivery of finance processes through <strong>Virtual Finance Offices</strong> across the UK, USA, India and Kenya.</p></li><li><p>Oversee payment runs and act as the <strong>first approver for payments</strong> across the relevant entities.</p></li><li><p>Provide oversight of <strong>financial due diligence</strong> on new and existing global partners.</p></li><li><p>Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, processes and reporting across the group.</p></li></ul><h3>About You</h3><p>The ideal candidate will be an experienced finance professional with strong exposure to <strong>financial controls, accounting processes and compliance</strong>.</p><p>You will ideally have:</p><ul data-spread="false"><li><p>Previous experience in a <strong>Financial Controls Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant or similar role</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.</p></li><li><p>Experience across <strong>month-end, statutory accounts and audit</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Strong knowledge of financial controls, policies and processes.</p></li><li><p>Experience working across <strong>multiple entities and/or international operations</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Ideally, knowledge of <strong>Charities SORP (FRS 102), VAT and Gift Aid</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Experience managing or overseeing finance teams and outsourced/shared-service functions.</p></li><li><p>The ability to quickly understand existing processes, identify improvements and take ownership of a broad controls remit.</p></li></ul><h3>Contract Details</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li><p><strong>9-month interim contract</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>£300-£350 per day + holiday pay</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>50% office-based in Cambridge</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>October 2026 start</strong></p></li><li><p>Broad financial controls and accounting remit with significant international exposure</p></li></ul><p>Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
