This is a varied, hands-on position where you will take ownership of your own portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients, acting as their main point of contact and providing practical accounting and tax advice.</p><p class="isSelectedEnd">The successful candidate will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and will be responsible for managing their clients from day-to-day accounting requirements through to year-end accounts, tax compliance and wider financial advice.</p><h3>The Role</h3><p class="isSelectedEnd">As Client Accountant, you will:</p><ul data-spread="false"><li>Manage a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients.</li><li>Act as the main point of contact, responding to client queries by telephone and email and providing clear, practical guidance.</li><li>Prepare year-end statutory accounts and corporation tax computations from start to finish.</li><li>Prepare and review Self Assessment tax returns for sole traders, company directors and individuals.</li><li>Prepare, review and file VAT returns, resolving bookkeeping and reconciliation queries where required.</li><li>Prepare management accounts and support with budgets, forecasts and cash flow reporting.</li><li>Provide advice around tax efficiency, payroll, cash flow and day-to-day financial management.</li><li>Manage client deadlines and ensure statutory and monthly filing requirements are met.</li><li>Complete company secretarial filings and maintain statutory records.</li><li>Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve processes and highlight where clients could benefit from additional finance or accountancy support.</li></ul><h3>About You</h3><p class="isSelectedEnd">We are looking for an experienced accountant who is comfortable working within an accountancy practice environment and dealing directly with clients.</p><p class="isSelectedEnd">You will ideally have:</p><ul data-spread="false"><li>AAT, ACCA, ACA or equivalent qualification, or be qualified by experience.</li><li>Previous experience working within an <strong>accountancy practice</strong>.</li><li>Strong experience preparing year-end accounts and tax computations.</li><li>Experience working with SMEs and owner-managed businesses.</li><li>A good understanding of statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT and Self Assessment.</li><li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial and accounting matters clearly to non-finance professionals.</li><li>A confident and accountable approach, with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.</li><li>A genuine client-focused approach and the confidence to provide practical, honest advice.</li></ul><p class="isSelectedEnd"> </p><h3>What's on Offer</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Competitive salary, dependent on experience.</li><li>Hybrid / remote working options.</li><li>25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.</li><li>Additional 3-day office shutdown over Christmas.</li><li>Learning and development support.</li><li>Discretionary bonus scheme following successful completion of probation.</li><li>Company pension scheme following successful completion of probation.</li><li>Opportunity to work closely with a varied portfolio of SME and owner-managed clients.</li><li>A high degree of autonomy and responsibility within a growing practice.</li></ul><p>Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
