The Systems Security Administrator plays a crucial role in safeguarding a Canadian organization's IT infrastructure and data from cyber threats. This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and monitoring security controls to ensure a secure and compliant IT environment.

Typical systems security administrator duties:

Install, configure, and maintain security software and systems (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, anti-malware). Manage user access controls and permissions to IT systems and data. Perform system hardening procedures to minimize vulnerabilities. Conduct regular security vulnerability scans and patch management to address potential security risks. Monitor security logs and events to identify and respond to suspicious activity. Investigate and respond to security incidents according to established procedures. Analyze security threats and vulnerabilities, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies. Participate in security incident and event management (SIEM) processes.
