A Network Engineer is a technical professional responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of an organization's critical network infrastructure. In Canada, this role ensures the stable, secure, and high-performing operation of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless systems, and cloud-network integrations. Leveraging strong technical expertise, Network Engineers play a key role in supporting daily operations, resolving complex network issues, and implementing solutions aligned with architectural designs. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is generally expected, along with relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP). Experience managing and optimizing network environments within Canadian business operations is highly valued.

Typical network engineer duties:

Implement, configure, and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.Monitor network performance and availability, conducting proactive troubleshooting and performance tuning.Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.Manage and implement network security policies, including firewall rules, VPNs, and access controls.Support network connectivity for cloud-based applications and infrastructure (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute).Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
