Financial Reporting Manager Job Description

A Financial Reporting Manager is a key leader responsible for the preparation, analysis, and integrity of an organization’s financial statements and regulatory filings. This role ensures all reporting is accurate, timely, and in full compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE and IFRS). The manager oversees the financial close process, manages external audits, and provides crucial financial insights to senior leadership. This position demands exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage a team. Typically, 5-8 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting is required, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is a necessity. Public accounting experience is highly valued.

Typical financial reporting manager duties:

Oversee the full-cycle financial close process and preparation of internal and external financial statements.Ensure compliance with ASPE/IFRS and other regulatory requirements.Lead and manage the external audit process, serving as the main point of contact.Analyze financial data and trends to provide actionable insights for management.Guide and mentor the financial reporting team.Implement and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.Prepare quarterly and annual reports for regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
