This role involves extracting, transforming, and analyzing large financial datasets, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights for process improvement and strategic decision-making. Serving as a crucial link between accounting and data science, candidates need strong analytical, problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and advanced proficiency with data tools. A Bachelor's in Data Science, Finance, or Accounting is essential; a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or relevant data certification is preferred. Understanding Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS) and financial data structures is key.

Typical financial data analyst duties:

Extract, clean, and transform financial datasets from accounting/ERP systems.Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and financial performance insights.Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).Support automation of financial reporting and data reconciliation activities.Collaborate with accounting teams for analytical support (e.g., month-end close).Identify process improvements and efficiencies through data.Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data.Stay current with data tools and Canadian data privacy regulations.
