This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong qualified accountant to join a collaborative finance team, leading the financial reporting function while managing and developing a small team.Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the month-end reporting process, management accounts, balance sheet integrity, statutory reporting support and financial controls. You'll also play a key role in driving continuous improvement, strengthening reporting processes and partnering with senior stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insight.This position offers a broad and varied remit, combining technical accounting, team leadership and business partnering within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.<h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><h3>Financial Reporting</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Lead the month-end close process and deliver accurate monthly management accounts.</li><li>Prepare board packs, financial reports and detailed variance analysis.</li><li>Produce timely reporting with clear commentary and actionable insights.</li><li>Ensure reporting is accurate, reconciled and supported by robust audit trails.</li><li>Support Group reporting requirements and reporting deadlines.</li></ul><h3>Financial Control</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Own the balance sheet reconciliation process and strengthen financial controls.</li><li>Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations.</li><li>Review accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, VAT, revenue and other key balance sheet areas.</li><li>Ensure journals are accurate, appropriately supported and reviewed.</li><li>Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare VAT returns.</li></ul><h3>Business Partnering & Planning</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Support budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting activities.</li><li>Partner with operational stakeholders to provide commercial insight and improve financial understanding.</li><li>Deliver meaningful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.</li></ul><h3>Audit & Compliance</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Support the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors.</li><li>Maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls and efficiencies.</li></ul><h3>Leadership</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Manage, mentor and develop a team of two finance professionals.</li><li>Provide technical accounting guidance across the wider finance team.</li><li>Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and collaboration.</li></ul><h2>About You</h2><ul data-spread="false"><li>ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.</li><li>At least two years' post-qualified experience within Financial Reporting, Group Reporting, Financial Control or Management Accounting.</li><li>Strong technical accounting knowledge and month-end reporting experience.</li><li>Excellent Excel skills with experience using ERP systems.</li><li>Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.</li><li>Experience within a multi-entity environment is advantageous.</li><li>SAP, Cognos or similar ERP/reporting system experience is desirable.</li><li>Big 4 or practice background would be beneficial but is not essential.</li></ul><h2>What's on Offer?</h2><ul data-spread="false"><li>Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.</li><li>Hybrid working.</li><li>Opportunity to lead and develop a small finance team.</li><li>Exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making.</li><li>Genuine career progression within a growing organisation.</li><li>A collaborative culture that encourages continuous improvement and professional development.</li></ul>Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
