  • <h1>Charity Accountant </h1><p>A well-established and purpose-driven <strong>rescue charity</strong> is seeking an experienced <strong>Charity Accountant</strong> to join its team on a fully remote basis.</p><p>The role will be responsible for overseeing the charity's day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records and providing effective financial reporting to support the organisation's continued growth and charitable work.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Managing the charity's accounts using <strong>Xero</strong>.</li><li>Maintaining accurate bookkeeping and financial records.</li><li>Completing bank reconciliations and processing invoices, payments and expenses.</li><li>Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.</li><li>Monitoring budgets, expenditure and cash flow.</li><li>Managing restricted and unrestricted funds.</li><li>Recording and reconciling donations, grants and other income.</li><li>Supporting the preparation of annual accounts and independent examination/audit.</li><li>Ensuring compliance with relevant charity accounting, HMRC and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Supporting Gift Aid processes where applicable.</li><li>Liaising with external accountants, auditors and other professional advisers.</li><li>Providing financial information and guidance to trustees and senior management.</li><li>Reviewing and improving financial processes and controls.</li></ul><h3>About the Candidate</h3><p>The successful candidate will have solid accounting experience, ideally gained within a <strong>charity or not-for-profit environment</strong>, together with strong practical knowledge of <strong>Xero</strong>.</p><p>Experience of charity accounting, restricted funds, Gift Aid, grants and preparing accounts for independent examination would be highly desirable.</p><p>The role would suit an organised and commercially aware finance professional who can work independently in a fully remote environment, communicate confidently with trustees and non-finance colleagues, and is passionate about supporting an organisation with a strong animal welfare mission.</p><p>A relevant accounting qualification such as <strong>AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA</strong> would be advantageous, although relevant practical experience will also be considered.</p><h3>The Opportunity</h3><p>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant to take on a key financial position within a values-led animal rescue organisation, combining professional expertise with a genuine social impact.</p><p>Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
