This is a key role responsible for ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and full regulatory compliance, while supporting the wider business with meaningful financial insight.</p><p class="isSelectedEnd">Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will oversee day-to-day finance operations and play an important role in improving processes and supporting business performance.</p> <br><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Lead and manage the finance function, including oversight of the finance team</li><li>Review and finalise payroll across the business</li><li>Analyse monthly costs and investigate variances</li><li>Prepare and manage prepayments, accruals, and monthly journals</li><li>Maintain the fixed asset register and produce depreciation schedules</li><li>Conduct stock analysis and produce review reports</li><li>Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss and balance sheets</li><li>Deliver management information and reconciliations for group reporting</li><li>Produce board-level financial reports</li><li>Manage cash flow and prepare two-year cash flow and profit and loss forecasts</li><li>Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including CIS and VAT returns and annual obligations</li><li>Lead year-end processes, including preparation of financial statements and audit requirements</li><li>Liaise with external auditors throughout the audit process</li><li>Maintain and optimise Sage 200, supporting system improvements and resolving queries</li><li>Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and controls</li><li>Undertake ad hoc financial duties as required</li></ul> <br><h3>About You</h3><p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul data-spread="false"><li>Proven experience leading a finance team or function</li><li>Professionally qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)</li><li>Strong technical accounting knowledge</li><li>Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills</li><li>Experience using Sage 200 or similar accounting systems</li><li>High level of accuracy and attention to detail</li><li>Strong communication and leadership skills</li><li>Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines</li></ul><p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul data-spread="false"><li>Experience within the construction sector or similar environment</li><li>Adaptable and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced business</li><li>Proactive and solutions-focused approach</li></ul><h3>Salary and Benefits</h3><ul data-spread="false"><li>Salary £60,000 - £70,000</li><li>10% discretionary bonus</li><li>25 days holiday plus bank holidays</li><li>Onsite parking</li><li>One day per week working from home</li></ul> <br><p>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of a well-established finance function and play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business.</p><p>Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
