The role will be office-based, with the business set to relocate to Peterborough in the New Year.</p><h3 data-start="724" data-end="738">The Role</h3><p data-end="1110" data-start="739">This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge alongside the ability to support and mentor a junior member of the team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing payroll processes, month-end, and balance sheet reconciliations, while also supporting the Assistant Finance Business Partner to build their confidence and knowledge.</p><h3 data-end="1138" data-start="1112">Key Responsibilities</h3><ul data-end="1820" data-start="1139"><li data-start="1139" data-end="1441"><p data-start="1141" data-end="1205">Take full ownership of the company payroll process, including:</p><ul data-start="1208" data-end="1441"><li data-end="1296" data-start="1208"><p data-start="1210" data-end="1296">Collating and validating information (e.g. overtime, sickness reports, adjustments).</p></li><li data-end="1365" data-start="1299"><p data-end="1365" data-start="1301">Inputting and checking payroll data within the payroll system.</p></li><li data-end="1441" data-start="1368"><p data-end="1441" data-start="1370">Liaising with and validating reports from external payroll providers.</p></li></ul></li><li data-start="1442" data-end="1645"><p data-end="1484" data-start="1444">Lead the month-end process, including:</p><ul data-end="1645" data-start="1487"><li data-start="1487" data-end="1572"><p data-start="1489" data-end="1572">Preparing and reviewing accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.</p></li><li data-end="1645" data-start="1575"><p data-end="1645" data-start="1577">Ensuring accuracy and timely completion of reporting requirements.</p></li></ul></li><li data-start="1646" data-end="1820"><p data-end="1820" data-start="1648">Mentor and train the Assistant Finance Business Partner, providing guidance to ensure they are able to independently manage month-end processes and payroll in the future.</p></li></ul><h3 data-end="1841" data-start="1822">The Candidate</h3><ul data-end="2262" data-start="1842"><li data-end="1932" data-start="1842"><p data-end="1932" data-start="1844">Qualified Accountant (CIMA or ACCA) with at least 5+ years' post-qualified experience.</p></li><li data-start="1933" data-end="1999"><p data-end="1999" data-start="1935">Strong technical knowledge of payroll and month-end processes.</p></li><li data-start="2000" data-end="2091"><p data-start="2002" data-end="2091">Proven experience managing payroll systems and working with external payroll providers.</p></li><li data-end="2179" data-start="2092"><p data-start="2094" data-end="2179">Previous experience mentoring, training, or supporting junior finance team members.</p></li><li data-start="2180" data-end="2262"><p data-end="2262" data-start="2182">Confident, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fully on-site environment.</p></li></ul><h3 data-end="2285" data-start="2264">What's on Offer</h3><ul data-start="2286" data-end="2503"><li data-start="2286" data-end="2341"><p data-end="2341" data-start="2288">Salary £50,000 - £55,000 (depending on experience).</p></li><li data-end="2427" data-start="2342"><p data-end="2427" data-start="2344">6-month FTC with the opportunity to add real value during a period of transition.</p></li><li data-end="2503" data-start="2428"><p data-end="2503" data-start="2430">A supportive finance team environment with scope to develop and mentor.</p></li></ul><p>Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
