  • <p><strong>Job Title</strong></p><p>Financial Controller</p><p><strong>Location</strong></p><p>Cannock</p><p><strong>Reporting To</strong></p><p>Managing Director, with a dotted line to Group Finance Director</p><p> </p><p><strong>Main Purpose</strong></p><p>To oversee financial reporting and ensure the effective management of all financial activities within the business.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Manage all aspects of the Finance team, ensuring effective task allocation, balanced workload, and timely completion of responsibilities.</li><li>Participate as a member of the Senior Management Team, providing financial guidance and strategic governance in line with business objectives and long-term planning.</li><li>Collaborate with Board members to ensure budgets are delivered.</li><li>Prepare monthly management accounts and annual budgets, including operating and capital expenditure budgets.</li><li>Develop and maintain a 5-year business plan.</li><li>Oversee asset management, including maintaining an up-to-date and accurate fixed asset register.</li><li>Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, including VAT, Customs &amp; Excise, and payroll taxes.</li><li>Drive and monitor all business KPIs.</li><li>Manage R&amp;D tax credit processes and reporting.</li><li>Oversee Intrastat reporting requirements.</li><li>Take full responsibility for stock takes and ensure timely financial reconciliation. Analyse slow-moving stock and present recommendations to the Board.</li><li>Monitor FX movements and assess implications on margins.</li><li>Manage year-end reporting, including liaison with auditors and tax advisors.</li><li>Lead month-end group reporting processes.</li><li>Partner with Operations leadership to monitor and measure material yield.</li><li>Monitor working capital requirements and recommend improvements.</li><li>Track debtor days and develop plans for improvement.</li><li>Ensure supplier terms are maintained at 60 days end of month.</li><li>Produce weekly flash results.</li><li>Support continuous improvement activities and ensure targets are achieved.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)</strong></p><ul><li>Provide accurate and timely reporting in accordance with group requirements.</li><li>Deliver external reporting in line with defined deadlines.</li><li>Track and report on continuous improvement initiatives and associated cost savings.</li><li>Maintain and report on the R&amp;D register monthly.</li><li>Monitor FX impact on margins and recommend actions to protect profitability.</li><li>Assess slow-moving and obsolete stock, providing recommendations.</li><li>Report on stocktake accuracy, including variance analysis.</li><li>Maintain part-by-part cost of sales analysis.</li><li>Report on monthly spend variances and recommend corrective actions.</li><li>Monitor company credit rating and suggest improvements.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Training</strong></p><ul><li>Identify and provide the necessary training to ensure departmental and individual effectiveness.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required</strong></p><ul><li>Open to QBE and Qualified candidates</li><li>Strong understanding of financial controls and processes.</li><li>Experience in financial forecasting and planning.</li><li>Proven experience managing and developing teams.</li><li>A solutions-oriented mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, able to operate effectively across all levels of the business.</li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing priorities and stakeholder expectations.</li><li>Experience working within the manufacturing sector - <strong>Essential</strong></li></ul><p> </p><p>Interested to find out more?
