We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead a small technical team and oversee IT infrastructure, systems and support services across a multi-site organisation. This is a permanent role paying up to £63,500 plus company car, with hybrid working after successful completion of probation.This is a hands-on leadership role, combining day-to-day operational responsibility with project delivery, team development and continuous improvement. You will work closely with business systems colleagues to ensure technology supports business performance, security and efficiency.Key Responsibilities<ul data-spread="false"><li>Lead, mentor and develop the internal IT team, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.</li><li>Oversee IT support, service desk operations and service level agreements.</li><li>Manage IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, applications, devices and communications.</li><li>Plan and deliver IT projects, managing resources, budgets, suppliers and timescales.</li><li>Support IT strategy, technology improvements and business transformation initiatives.</li><li>Maintain cyber security, data protection, system updates and IT governance.</li><li>Develop and test business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements.</li><li>Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting when required</li></ul>About You<ul data-spread="false"><li>Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Active Directory, SharePoint Online and SQL Server.</li><li>Good understanding of networking, storage, virtualisation and remote desktop technologies.</li><li>Knowledge of cyber security, GDPR and IT governance.</li><li>Proven IT project management and service delivery experience.</li><li>Strong leadership, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.</li><li>A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on ownership and continuous improvement.</li></ul>On Offer<ul><li>Salary up to £63,500</li><li>Company car</li><li>Hybrid working - 3 days a week in Melksham</li><li>Competitive benefits</li></ul>Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions. The Role<ul dir="ltr"><li>Supporting the Head of Data Science & Machine Learning to shape group strategy and engage stakeholders</li><li>Generating ideas for novel research that create competitive advantage across the customer community</li><li>Working autonomously to develop complex, novel data science solutions</li><li>Helping triage and respond to new opportunities, aligned to group and wider business strategy</li><li>Designing and delivering data-centric solutions in collaboration with colleagues across disciplines</li><li>Leading the technical delivery of research and applied AI/ML work on both customer and internal projects</li><li>Providing technical leadership across multiple projects</li><li>Managing and developing more junior members of the SRG team</li><li>Delivering AI, ML and data science solutions to a broad range of defence problems</li></ul>About You<ul><li>Several years' experience delivering novel ML solutions to customers and internal stakeholders</li><li>Proven experience as a Senior/Principal Data Scientist with ability to guide and coach the team</li><li>Excellent Python coding practice, including ML libraries such as HuggingFace, TensorFlow and PyTorch</li><li>Experience building robust ML pipelines with MLOps tools for model training, monitoring and deployment</li><li>Experience with version control and environment management (e.g. venvs, Docker)</li><li>Expert knowledge of AI/ML algorithms across different data types and tasks, including Generative AI, NLP and computer vision, sufficient to propose research beyond the existing literature</li><li>Hands-on experience training and developing AI models, including Large Language Models</li></ul>This is a permanent opportunity with a competitive salary package, additional clearance-related allowance and the chance to work on technically challenging, security-focused programmes.
