A Tax Preparer prepares and reviews tax returns for individuals, businesses and other entities to ensure compliance with applicable Canadian tax legislation, filing requirements and organizational standards. They gather and analyze financial information, prepare tax filings, respond to tax inquiries and maintain organized documentation.Working closely with clients, accounting teams, tax professionals and business stakeholders, Tax Preparers help organizations and individuals navigate evolving tax requirements by supporting accurate reporting, timely filing, reduced filing errors and efficient tax preparation processes.

Typical tax preparer duties:

Prepare federal and provincial tax returns for individuals, businesses and other entities in accordance with applicable tax regulations and filing requirements.Review financial records, tax documents and supporting information to calculate taxable income, deductions, credits and tax obligations.Gather, organize and maintain tax data, documentation and supporting records to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.Assist with tax compliance activities, including the preparation of supporting schedules, documentation and information required for filing purposes.Respond to tax-related questions and assist with tax notices, correspondence and information requests from clients, internal stakeholders and tax authorities such as the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).Verify the accuracy and completeness of tax returns and supporting documentation before submission.Maintain knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and reporting requirements to support accurate tax preparation practices.Identify opportunities to improve tax preparation processes, documentation standards and filing efficiency.
