Network/Cloud Administrator Job Description

The network/cloud administrator is key to ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of an organization's IT infrastructure, including both on-premises networks and cloud-based resources. The role is responsible for network design, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and cloud administration among other tasks.

Typical Duties

Network Administration:

Design, install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).

Manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal functionality.

Implement network security measures to protect the organization's data and resources.

Perform routine maintenance and backups of network infrastructure.

Cloud Administration:

Manage cloud-based resources such as storage, compute instances, and applications on platforms like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
