Network Security Engineer in Quebec City, QC

Network Security Engineer Job Description

Network Security Engineers are responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and integration of the corporate WAN, LAN, and server architecture. This role is also responsible for the implementation and administration of network security hardware and software, enforcing the network security policy, and complying with requirements of external security audits and recommendations. Network security engineers must be able to translate security policies and procedures into technical architectures and possess strong working knowledge of data and network security technologies. At least five years of experience installing, monitoring, and maintaining network security solutions is typically desired by employers in Canada. A university degree in a technical field and a Cisco or other security-related certification may also be required.

Typical network security engineer duties:

Performing analysis of network security needs and helping with the design, integration, and installation of hardware and software. Analyzing, troubleshooting, and correcting network problems and formulating action plans. Maintaining and administering perimeter security systems, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, and conducting post-deployment monitoring and testing.
