Business Intelligence Developer Job Description

The business intelligence (BI) developer is a key member of a Canadian organization's technology team, responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive informed decision-making. This role is responsible for bridging the gap between data and business users by designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions, leveraging technical skills and understanding of business processes.

Typical business intelligence developer duties:

Design and develop BI solutions using data warehouse technologies, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data visualization tools. (e.g., SQL Server, Power BI, Tableau) Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into clear and concise reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools. Develop and maintain ETL processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery for analysis. Clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis using SQL queries and data manipulation tools. Implement data security measures to govern access and protect sensitive information. Maintain and troubleshoot existing BI systems and reports.
