Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Assess existing data assets, pipelines and datasets to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, duplication and gaps.</li><li>Profile data to establish quality baselines across accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity and uniqueness.</li><li>Develop and implement data validation rules, quality checks and automated monitoring processes.</li><li>Investigate data anomalies, perform root cause analysis and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve underlying issues.</li><li>Build, maintain and optimise data pipelines and transformation processes within the Microsoft data ecosystem.</li><li>Support data cleansing, standardisation, reconciliation and remediation activities in preparation for Microsoft Purview implementation.</li><li>Work with data owners and business stakeholders to define data quality rules, standards, critical data elements and ownership.</li><li>Document data definitions, business rules, data flows, source systems and lineage to support future governance and catalogue capabilities.</li><li>Collaborate with data architects, engineers and governance teams to ensure data assets are appropriately structured and prepared for discovery and classification.</li><li>Establish repeatable processes and reporting to measure data quality improvements and support ongoing data management.</li></ul> Skills and Experience<ul><li>Exposure to Microsoft Purview, particularly data discovery, cataloguing, classification, lineage and governance capabilities (beneficial).</li><li>Proven experience as a Data Engineer within a Microsoft-centric data environment.</li><li>Strong hands-on SQL skills, including data profiling, complex queries, reconciliation and validation.</li><li>Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines, data transformations and integration processes.</li><li>Demonstrated experience identifying, analysing and resolving data quality issues across complex datasets.</li><li>Understanding of data quality dimensions, data profiling, metadata management and data governance principles.</li><li>Experience implementing automated data quality checks, validation rules and monitoring frameworks.</li><li>Ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into practical solutions.</li><li>Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.</li></ul> This is a 6 month fixed term contract - 5 days in office.
