Key responsibilities of a Head of Treasury in the financial services sector include:Developing and executing the organisation’s treasury strategyManaging liquidity, funding, and capital adequacy in line with regulatory requirementsOverseeing cash flow forecasting, balance sheet management, and investment activitiesMonitoring interest rate, FX, and credit risk exposuresEnsuring compliance with APRA prudential standards, including APS 210 and APS 222Leading treasury reporting for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissionsManaging relationships with banks, investors, and rating agenciesAdvising senior management and the board on treasury risk and financial policyLeading and developing the treasury team to deliver operational excellenceConducting stress testing and scenario modelling to inform capital and liquidity planningSupporting regulatory change, capital strategy, and funding diversification initiatives

Typical Head of Treasury job qualifications and requirements

A strong background in finance or economics with deep treasury expertise is essential, along with a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
