Security Architect Job Description

Security Architects in Canada play a strategic role in designing, implementing, and overseeing the overall security posture of an organization. This role leverages expertise in information security to create a secure and resilient IT infrastructure that protects the organization's data and assets from cyber threats.

Typical security architect duties:

Design and implement a comprehensive security architecture aligned with the organization's business needs, risk profile, and compliance requirements. Analyze security threats and vulnerabilities, recommending appropriate security controls and mitigation strategies. Select and implement security technologies and solutions (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, data encryption, access control systems). Design and implement security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure a consistent security posture across the organization. Collaborate with IT teams (network administrators, system administrators) to integrate security considerations into infrastructure design and operations. Conduct security assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses. Lead or participate in security incident response planning and exercises. Advise and educate stakeholders on security risks and best practices. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the security architecture to identify areas for improvement.
