Network Architects play a pivotal and strategic role in designing, implementing, and overseeing an organization's entire converged network and cloud infrastructure. This position leverages deep expertise in networking protocols, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity principles to create a highly scalable, secure, and reliable IT environment that directly supports business objectives and future growth. Candidates must possess exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical requirements into architectural blueprints and roadmaps. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is standard, with relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect) highly preferred. Experience navigating complex network landscapes and ensuring compliance with Canadian data privacy and telecommunications regulations is a key asset.

Typical network architect duties:

Design and implement a hybrid IT architecture that integrates on-premises networks with cloud-based resources (public, private, or hybrid cloud).Develop and maintain network architecture blueprints considering factors like security, scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.Select and implement appropriate network and cloud technologies (SDN, network security solutions, cloud migration strategies).Configure and manage cloud infrastructure services (e.g., compute, storage, networking) on various cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Design and implement secure network segmentation and access control policies.Optimize network performance and troubleshoot network-related issues.Collaborate with network engineers, cloud engineers, and other IT professionals to ensure successful implementation and integration of the network and cloud environment.
