HR Manager Job Description

An HR Manager is a vital leader responsible for overseeing and managing various human resources functions within an organization. This role involves developing and implementing HR policies, managing talent acquisition and retention, overseeing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. The HR Manager acts as a key advisor to management and employees, fostering a positive work environment and supporting organizational goals. This position demands strong knowledge of HR best practices, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to lead and motivate. Typically, 5-8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management capacity, is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is essential, with a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation highly preferred. A solid understanding of Canadian employment legislation (federal and provincial) is crucial.

Typical HR manager duties:

Develop, implement, and administer HR policies and procedures.Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.Ensure strict compliance with Canadian employment standards, human rights, and labour laws.Oversee compensation, benefits, and payroll liaison.Lead HR initiatives related to training, development, and employee engagement.Manage HR reporting and analytics for informed decision-making.Advise management on HR best practices and strategic workforce planning.
