Key responsibilities of a Senior Project Manager include:Leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex IT and digital transformation projectsDefining project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource plans across multiple workstreamsManaging risks, issues, and dependencies, and ensuring proactive resolutionCoordinating internal teams, external vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders to meet delivery milestonesEnsuring compliance with the NZ Privacy Act, ISO 27001, and internal governance frameworksPreparing project reports, business cases, and executive-level updatesEmbedding change management, training, and user adoption plans into project executionDriving continuous improvement in project delivery practices and outcomes

Senior Project Manager job qualifications and requirements

A degree in project management, information technology, or a related field is required. Certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile/Scrum Master are essential.Requirements include:7+ years’ experience managing large-scale or complex technology projectsDemonstrated success delivering projects involving cloud, infrastructure, application development, or digital servicesStrong understanding of New Zealand-specific data privacy, compliance, and cybersecurity standardsProven leadership in managing cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendor relationshipsExcellent communication, risk management, and strategic planning skillsAbility to operate at both executive and operational levels within project environments
