The Enterprise Architect leads the strategic alignment of technology systems with business goals, ensuring cohesive architecture across applications, infrastructure, and data. This role provides enterprise-wide guidance on architectural standards, security, and digital transformation, in line with New Zealand regulatory and compliance frameworks.

Enterprise Architect duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of an Enterprise Architect include:

Defining and maintaining enterprise architecture frameworks and roadmaps aligned with business strategy

Leading enterprise-wide technology initiatives including system integration, cloud adoption, and digital transformation

Ensuring architectural compliance with the NZ Privacy Act, ISO 27001, and relevant New Zealand Government security guidance

Collaborating with executives, product owners, and technical teams to drive strategic technology decisions

Overseeing architectural governance and ensuring consistency across platforms and solutions

Evaluating emerging technologies and recommending enterprise adoption to support scalability and resilience

Facilitating architecture reviews, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analysis of proposed solutions

Supporting the development of data governance policies and integration strategies across business units

Providing mentoring and technical leadership across architecture and development teams

Enterprise Architect job qualifications and requirements

A degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field is required. Certifications such as TOGAF or SABSA are highly regarded.

Requirements include:

10+ years’ experience in architecture roles, with at least 3 years at the enterprise level

Demonstrated experience aligning IT strategy with business objectives in large or complex organisations

Strong understanding of New Zealand data governance, cybersecurity, and privacy regulations

Expertise in cloud strategy, integration frameworks, and enterprise application design

Proven leadership in architectural governance and stakeholder engagement

Excellent communication, facilitation, and strategic planning skills
