The Senior Business Analyst leads the analysis and definition of business requirements, ensuring solutions are aligned with strategic goals and deliver value across New Zealand operations. This role acts as a key liaison between stakeholders and technical teams, facilitating effective communication and driving continuous improvement.

Senior Business Analyst duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Senior Business Analyst include:

Leading workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to gather and validate business requirements

Translating business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process flows

Supporting the delivery of technology and process change initiatives across complex projects

Collaborating with product owners, developers, and testers to ensure solutions meet business expectations

Conducting gap analysis, feasibility studies, and impact assessments

Contributing to project planning, risk management, and benefits realisation activities

Ensuring documentation aligns with New Zealand data governance, privacy (NZ Privacy Act), and compliance standards

Facilitating user acceptance testing (UAT) and supporting training and change management efforts

Senior Business Analyst job qualifications and requirements

A degree in business, information systems, or a related field is required.

Requirements include:

5+ years’ experience in business analysis roles within New Zealand organisations

Proven ability to work across cross-functional teams and large-scale projects

Strong documentation skills, including user stories, process mapping, and business cases

Familiarity with agile and waterfall delivery methodologies

Knowledge of New Zealand-specific regulatory and privacy frameworks

Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills

Ability to lead business analysis activities independently and mentor junior analysts
