Key responsibilities of a Senior Business Analyst include:Leading workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to gather and validate business requirementsTranslating business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process flowsSupporting the delivery of technology and process change initiatives across complex projectsCollaborating with product owners, developers, and testers to ensure solutions meet business expectationsConducting gap analysis, feasibility studies, and impact assessmentsContributing to project planning, risk management, and benefits realisation activitiesEnsuring documentation aligns with New Zealand data governance, privacy (NZ Privacy Act), and compliance standardsFacilitating user acceptance testing (UAT) and supporting training and change management efforts

Senior Business Analyst job qualifications and requirements

A degree in business, information systems, or a related field is required.Requirements include:5+ years’ experience in business analysis roles within New Zealand organisationsProven ability to work across cross-functional teams and large-scale projectsStrong documentation skills, including user stories, process mapping, and business casesFamiliarity with agile and waterfall delivery methodologiesKnowledge of New Zealand-specific regulatory and privacy frameworksExcellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skillsAbility to lead business analysis activities independently and mentor junior analysts
