The Solutions Architect designs and delivers integrated technology solutions that meet business requirements while aligning with architectural standards and regulatory frameworks in New Zealand. This role bridges technical and business teams to ensure systems are scalable, secure, and fit for purpose.

Solutions Architect duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Solutions Architect include:

Designing end-to-end solutions that integrate applications, infrastructure, and data components

Collaborating with stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into architectural designs

Ensuring solutions comply with New Zealand regulations, including the NZ Privacy Act and ISO 27001 standards

Providing architectural leadership across project lifecycles from concept to deployment

Creating and maintaining solution architecture documentation and governance artefacts

Advising on system integrations, cloud adoption, and platform modernisation strategies

Assessing technology risks and ensuring solutions meet security, scalability, and performance needs

Working with vendors and internal teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals

Supporting agile delivery teams by providing design guidance and technical oversight

Solutions Architect job qualifications and requirements

A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect are advantageous.

Requirements include:

7+ years’ experience in systems or solutions architecture roles

Proven experience designing complex, enterprise-grade technology solutions

Strong knowledge of integration patterns, cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS), and data security principles

Familiarity with New Zealand-specific compliance frameworks, including the NZ Privacy Act and ISO 27001

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Ability to lead design workshops and translate business needs into technical solutions
