The Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for managing debtor accounts, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and accurate reconciliation of incoming payments. This role supports cash flow management and contributes to maintaining strong customer relationships across New Zealand.

Accounts Receivable Officer duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of an Accounts Receivable Officer include:Generating and issuing accurate customer invoices in accordance with contract termsMonitoring debtor accounts and following up on overdue balancesAllocating incoming payments to the correct accounts and resolving discrepanciesPreparing debtor statements and responding to customer account queriesSupporting the preparation of monthly AR aging reports and cash flow forecastsAssisting with credit checks and setting up new customer accountsReconciling AR sub-ledgers with the general ledger at month-endEnsuring compliance with IRD requirements related to GST on salesCollaborating with internal teams to resolve billing disputes and ensure timely collectionsManaging accounts receivable processing using accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, or SAP

Accounts Receivable Officer job qualifications and requirements

A certificate or diploma in accounting or business administration is preferred. Candidates should have 2–4 years’ experience in accounts receivable or credit control.Requirements include:Proven experience managing accounts receivable and debtor follow-upsStrong understanding of GST invoicing and compliance with IRD requirementsProficiency with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or SAPHigh level of accuracy in payment allocation and reconciliationStrong communication and negotiation skills for managing customer relationshipsAbility to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
