Key responsibilities of an Accounts Payable Manager include:Leading and mentoring the accounts payable team to ensure high performance and accuracyOverseeing invoice processing, payment runs, and supplier reconciliations in line with company policiesEnsuring GST is correctly coded and reported in compliance with IRD requirementsManaging vendor relationships and resolving escalated payment issuesReviewing and improving accounts payable processes to enhance efficiency and controlsCollaborating with procurement and finance teams across New Zealand to align payment practicesSupporting month-end close activities, including accruals, reporting, and audit readinessEnsuring accurate maintenance of supplier master data and payment termsMonitoring KPIs and preparing reports on accounts payable performanceManaging system enhancements and upgrades within platforms such as SAP, Xero, or MYOB

Accounts Payable Manager job qualifications and requirements

A diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred. Candidates should have 5+ years’ experience in accounts payable, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.Requirements include:Demonstrated experience leading an accounts payable function in a medium to large organisationExperience managing and developing AP teams to achieve performance targetsStrong understanding of GST processing and IRD reporting obligationsProficiency in financial systems such as SAP, Xero, or MYOBProven ability to implement process improvements and internal controlsExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skillsStrong organisational and analytical abilities to manage deadlines, reporting requirements, and high-volume transactions
