An AI Designer designs artificial intelligence solutions, experiences and workflows that improve processes, enhance user interactions and create value through emerging technologies. They combine knowledge of AI, user needs, business objectives and digital design principles to create intuitive, effective and responsible AI-powered solutions.Working closely with product teams, engineers, data professionals, business stakeholders and end users, AI Designers develop AI workflows, conversational experiences and generative AI applications that support user-focused, scalable solutions aligned with organizational goals.

Typical AI designer duties:

Design AI-powered experiences, workflows and solutions that address user needs, business objectives and operational challenges.Create concepts, user flows and design specifications for generative AI applications, AI assistants, chat interfaces and promptsCollaborate with product managers, engineers, data teams and business stakeholders to define AI use cases and solution requirements.Translate complex AI capabilities, including large language models (LLMs), machine learning and automation technologies, into intuitive user experiences.Design conversational experiences, prompts and interaction patterns that improve the effectiveness, usability and accuracy of AI systems.Develop and refine AI workflows, user journeys and process designs to support successful adoption of AI solutions.Partner with technical teams to ensure AI designs are feasible, scalable and aligned with system capabilities and business requirements.Evaluate AI outputs, identify opportunities for improvement and support testing to enhance user experience, reliability and performance.Apply principles of responsible AI, including transparency, privacy, security and ethical design practices, when creating AI solutions.Conduct research, gather user feedback and analyze usage patterns to improve AI experiences and product outcomes.Create documentation, prototypes and design materials to communicate AI concepts and support development activities.Stay current with emerging AI technologies, design practices and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation.
