Key responsibilities of a Senior Software Engineer include:

Designing and developing robust, scalable, and secure software applications

Leading code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and test automation strategies

Troubleshooting complex software issues and ensuring system performance and reliability

Documenting system design, technical specifications, and operational procedures

Ensuring software development aligns with the NZ Privacy Act, ISO 27001, and secure coding standards

Mentoring junior and intermediate developers to support team capability and best practices

Senior Software Engineer job qualifications and requirements

A degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field is required.

Requirements include:

5+ years’ experience in software development, including enterprise systems

Expertise in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g. .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python, React, Angular)

Strong knowledge of software architecture, API design, and integration patterns

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS), DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines

Familiarity with New Zealand-specific data privacy and cybersecurity regulations

Proven ability to lead development initiatives and deliver high-quality solutions

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
