The Automation Test Analyst designs, develops, and executes automated test scripts to validate the functionality, performance, and security of software applications. This role supports continuous integration and delivery practices while ensuring compliance with New Zealand-specific data governance and privacy standards.

Key responsibilities of an Automation Test Analyst include:

Developing and maintaining automated test scripts using frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright

Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable deployments

Collaborating with developers, business analysts, and manual testers to define test coverage and acceptance criteria

Conducting automated regression, functional, and performance testing across multiple environments

Ensuring test scripts and data comply with the NZ Privacy Act and secure testing practices

Investigating test failures, logging defects, and working with development teams to resolve issues

Maintaining test documentation, including test plans, results, and automation architecture

Contributing to test strategy, tool selection, and continuous improvement of testing processes

Automation Manual Test Analyst job qualifications and requirements

A degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field is required. ISTQB certification in test automation is advantageous.

Requirements include:

3+ years’ experience in automated software testing

Strong skills in test automation tools and scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript, Python, Java, C#)

Experience integrating tests into CI/CD workflows (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)

Familiarity with REST API testing and data-driven testing methods

Understanding of New Zealand-specific privacy and data security obligations in software testing

Strong analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting skills

Ability to collaborate across development and QA teams to ensure test efficiency and accuracy
