Senior Manual Test Analyst duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Senior Manual Test Analyst include:

Designing and executing comprehensive manual test cases, scenarios, and traceability across functional, integration, and regression testing

Leading test planning activities, defining scope, estimating effort, and establishing quality metrics

Managing defect identification, reporting, and resolution processes in collaboration with development teams

Supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensuring business requirements are fully validated

Ensuring testing processes comply with the NZ Privacy Act and relevant security and data handling standards

Mentoring junior test analysts and supporting continuous improvement in test documentation and practice

Collaborating with project managers, business analysts, and developers to clarify requirements and enhance test coverage

Contributing to test readiness assessments, go-live planning, and post-release support

Senior Manual Test Analyst job qualifications and requirements

A degree in software testing, information systems, or a related field is required. ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certification is strongly preferred.

Requirements include:

5+ years’ experience in manual testing roles, including complex enterprise projects

Proven ability to lead testing phases across full project lifecycles

Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Azure DevOps, TestRail)

Strong knowledge of New Zealand privacy legislation and secure testing practices

Excellent analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills

Ability to mentor team members and contribute to test strategy development
