The Manual Test Analyst is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting manual test cases to ensure the quality and functionality of software applications. This role collaborates with development and business teams to validate system performance, usability, and compliance across New Zealand environments.

Manual Test Analyst duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Manual Test Analyst include:Developing and executing detailed test cases, scenarios, and scripts based on business and technical requirementsLogging and tracking defects, verifying fixes, and performing regression testingSupporting user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensuring software meets functional specificationsEnsuring test documentation complies with New Zealand data privacy and security standards (e.g. NZ Privacy Act)Collaborating with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to resolve issues and clarify requirementsPreparing test summary reports and contributing to go-live readiness assessmentsMaintaining accurate and up-to-date test documentation and traceability matricesParticipating in test planning, estimations, and continuous improvement of testing processes

Manual Test Analyst job qualifications and requirements

A diploma or degree in information systems, software testing, or a related field is preferred. ISTQB Foundation certification is advantageous.Requirements include:2+ years’ experience in manual software testing or quality assurance rolesStrong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and test management toolsAbility to write clear and concise test cases based on requirements and user storiesFamiliarity with defect tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Azure DevOps)Awareness of New Zealand-specific privacy and compliance obligations in software testingStrong analytical, communication, and documentation skillsAttention to detail and ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
