Frequently asked questions

How accurate are the salaries in the salary calculator?
We use a rigorous, multistep process to develop starting salary benchmarks that reflect projected market trends. The ranges in the guide are based on actual compensation data for candidates Robert Half has placed in Hong Kong, third-party job posting data and validation by our recruiters. So you’re in the right place to get help with questions like “What salary should I be making?” or “What salary should we offer for this role?”
Does the salary calculator account for experience in a role?
Yes. Our percentile salary levels account for a candidate’s years of experience, skill set and certifications, as well as other factors including industry; the hiring company’s size, complexity or revenue; and demand for the role.
Do the salary figures include bonuses, benefits or MPF?
No. The salary figures represent base starting salaries only and do not include bonuses, benefits, incentives, allowances, or Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) contributions.
What do the low, mid and high salary ranges mean?
The calculator displays salary data across three experience levels:
Low (25th percentile): Professionals who are relatively new to the role. Mid (50th percentile): Professionals with solid experience and the capabilities to perform independently. High (75th percentile): Highly experienced professionals with advanced or in-demand skills.

The salaries listed in Robert Half’s Salary Guide are the result of a rigorous, multistep process to ensure our projections accurately reflect the marketplace. They are based on real compensation data from professionals Robert Half has successfully matched with employers across Hong Kong. The salaries listed in the salary tables represent gross yearly salaries. They do not include bonuses, benefits, or the Mandatory Provident Fund. We report salaries in three percentiles, recognising that professionals join companies at varied experience levels. The non-salary data presented in this Salary Guide is derived from an online survey conducted by an independent research firm commissioned by Robert Half in August 2026. The survey gathered responses from 150 finance, accounting, financial services, and IT and technology hiring managers employed by a diverse range of organisations in Hong Kong, including SMEs and large companies.
