Typical Business Analyst (Finance and Accounting) job qualifications and requirements

A degree in accounting, commerce, finance, or economics is required. Progress toward CPA Australia or CA ANZ is highly regarded. 4–6 years’ experience in financial or business analysis roles is expected.Strong analytical and financial modelling skillsProficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and ExcelExperience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Workday) and finance data structuresDeep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisAbility to translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendationsFamiliarity with AASB standards and financial reporting processesStrong stakeholder engagement and communication skillsExperience in process improvement and business case developmentExposure to project delivery or system transformation initiatives is advantageous
