The Application Support specialist provides technical assistance and system support for enterprise applications used across the organisation. This role is essential in ensuring application stability, resolving user issues, and supporting the ongoing performance and usability of business-critical systems.

Key responsibilities of an Application Support role include:

Responding to user queries and incidents related to supported applications

Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to minimise system downtime

Monitoring application performance and conducting routine maintenance

Logging and managing support tickets in accordance with SLAs

Liaising with software vendors, developers, and internal teams to escalate and resolve complex issues

Assisting with application upgrades, patches, and deployments

Documenting support procedures, known issues, and resolutions

Providing training or guidance to users on system functionality

Typical Application Support job qualifications and requirements

A degree or diploma in IT, computer science, or a related discipline is typically required. Experience in application support within an enterprise IT environment is essential.

Proven experience in Level 1/2 application support roles

Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira)

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Working knowledge of SQL, databases, or scripting (advantageous)

Good understanding of system integrations and application lifecycle management

Clear communication and customer service orientation

Ability to document technical processes and manage multiple support queries effectively
