The Application Support specialist provides technical assistance and system support for enterprise applications used across the organisation. This role is essential in ensuring application stability, resolving user issues, and supporting the ongoing performance and usability of business-critical systems.

Key responsibilities of an Application Support role include:Responding to user queries and incidents related to supported applicationsTroubleshooting and resolving technical issues to minimise system downtimeMonitoring application performance and conducting routine maintenanceLogging and managing support tickets in accordance with SLAsLiaising with software vendors, developers, and internal teams to escalate and resolve complex issuesAssisting with application upgrades, patches, and deploymentsDocumenting support procedures, known issues, and resolutionsProviding training or guidance to users on system functionality

Typical Application Support job qualifications and requirements

A degree or diploma in IT, computer science, or a related discipline is typically required. Experience in application support within an enterprise IT environment is essential. Proven experience in Level 1/2 application support rolesFamiliarity with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira)Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsWorking knowledge of SQL, databases, or scripting (advantageous)Good understanding of system integrations and application lifecycle managementClear communication and customer service orientationAbility to document technical processes and manage multiple support queries effectively
