The Senior Finance Business Partner provides high-level financial leadership and strategic support to executive and operational teams. This role is responsible for delivering critical insights through forecasting, performance analysis, and commercial modelling, ensuring financial decisions align with long-term business goals and New Zealand regulatory standards.

Senior Finance Business Partner duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Senior Finance Business Partner include:

Leading financial planning and analysis activities across multiple business units

Delivering strategic insights through robust forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

Influencing executive-level decision-making with clear financial recommendations

Building and maintaining complex financial models to assess scenarios and business cases

Supporting long-term planning, capital investment analysis, and commercial strategy

Ensuring compliance with NZ IFRS and IRD requirements including GST, FBT, and PAYE

Collaborating with cross-functional teams across New Zealand to align financial performance with business outcomes

Driving improvements in financial reporting, dashboards, and analytics tools

Mentoring and supporting the development of junior finance team members

Leading financial elements of key transformation projects and strategic initiatives

Senior Finance Business Partner job qualifications and requirements

A degree in accounting, finance, or economics and full membership with CA ANZ or CPA Australia is required.

Requirements include:

7+ years’ experience in commercial finance, strategic analysis, or business partnering roles

Proven experience influencing executive stakeholders and driving commercial outcomes

Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities

Strong understanding of NZ IFRS, IRD compliance, and financial governance

Experience with ERP and BI systems (e.g. SAP, Xero, MYOB, Power BI)

Strategic mindset with a track record of delivering business insights and value
