Key responsibilities of a Data Warehouse Consultant include:Designing and building scalable data warehouse architectures to support business intelligence and reportingDeveloping ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sourcesEnsuring data models support performance, flexibility, and accurate analytics outputsCollaborating with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into data warehouse solutionsImplementing data governance, access control, and audit mechanisms in compliance with the NZ Privacy Act and ISO 27001Optimising query performance and monitoring system health to ensure uptime and data availabilitySupporting data validation, cleansing, and transformation to ensure consistent and reliable datasetsDocumenting technical architecture, data lineage, and operational procedures for transparency and audit readiness

Data Warehouse Consultant job qualifications and requirements

A degree in data science, computer science, or information systems is required.Requirements include:5+ years’ experience in data warehousing or data engineering rolesStrong experience with data warehouse platforms (e.g. Snowflake, SQL Server, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery)Proficiency in ETL tools and scripting languages (e.g. Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Python)Solid understanding of dimensional modelling, star/snowflake schemas, and data architecture principlesFamiliarity with New Zealand data privacy and compliance frameworksStrong SQL and performance tuning skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
