The Business Intelligence Analyst transforms data into actionable insights to support strategic and operational decision-making across the organisation. Business Intelligence Analyst duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Business Intelligence Analyst include:

Collecting, analysing, and interpreting data to support business performance monitoring and forecasting

Designing and maintaining dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik

Collaborating with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into analytical outputs

Ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across business systems

Supporting data governance initiatives and complying with the NZ Privacy Act and ISO 27001 standards

Identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies to support operational and strategic decisions

Documenting data definitions, logic, and methodologies to ensure transparency and repeatability

Working with IT and data teams to enhance data models and optimise reporting infrastructure

Business Intelligence Analyst job qualifications and requirements

A degree in data analytics, business, information systems, or a related field is required.

Requirements include:

3+ years’ experience in business intelligence or data analysis roles

Proficiency with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik

Strong SQL skills and experience with data extraction and manipulation

Understanding of New Zealand data privacy and security regulations

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data visualisation skills

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities across business units
