Key responsibilities of a Business Intelligence Developer include:Developing and maintaining BI dashboards, reports, and data visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikBuilding and optimising data models to support efficient reporting and analyticsWriting SQL queries and stored procedures for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)Collaborating with analysts, stakeholders, and IT teams to gather reporting requirementsEnsuring solutions align with the NZ Privacy Act, ISO 27001, and internal data governance frameworksSupporting data quality initiatives and ensuring consistency across reporting outputsAutomating data refreshes and report distribution through scheduled jobs and pipelinesDocumenting BI processes, data sources, and architecture for governance and maintenance purposes

Business Intelligence Developer job qualifications and requirements

A degree in computer science, data analytics, or information systems is required.Requirements include:3+ years’ experience in BI development or data engineering rolesProficiency with BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and SQL-based data manipulationExperience developing data models and building scalable BI solutionsFamiliarity with New Zealand data privacy and security regulationsKnowledge of ETL tools and cloud data platforms (e.g. Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue)Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and documentation capabilities across technical and business teams
