Key responsibilities of a Business Intelligence Manager include:Leading the BI team in delivering dashboards, reports, and analytics that drive business performanceDefining and implementing BI strategy, standards, and best practices across the organisationEnsuring data management and reporting processes comply with the NZ Privacy Act and ISO 27001Collaborating with senior stakeholders to understand reporting needs and align BI outputs with strategic objectivesOverseeing the development of data models, ETL pipelines, and reporting frameworksManaging data quality, consistency, and governance across business unitsEvaluating and implementing BI tools and platforms to support scalability and user adoptionProviding leadership, mentoring, and technical direction to BI developers and analystsSupporting continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and user training initiatives

Business Intelligence Manager job qualifications and requirements

A degree in data analytics, information systems, or business intelligence is required.Requirements include:7+ years’ experience in BI or data analytics roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership positionProven expertise in BI platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and SQL-based reportingExperience managing data teams and overseeing enterprise-wide BI initiativesStrong understanding of New Zealand data governance, privacy regulations, and security standardsExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skillsAbility to align BI solutions with strategic goals and operational needs across business units
