Robert Half provides meal and rest periods that contract professionals are entitled, encouraged and expected to take.   Non-exempt contract professionals who work more than 5 hours in a day are entitled to an unpaid 30-minute, uninterrupted meal period starting no later than the end of the 5th hour of work.    Non-exempt contract professionals who work more than 10 hours in a day are entitled to a second unpaid 30-minute, uninterrupted meal period starting no later than the end of the 10th hour of work.   Robert Half also authorizes and permits non-exempt contract professionals to take a net 10-minute rest period during every work period of 4 hours or major portion thereof.    Contract professionals may take 1 rest period for up to 6 hours of work in a day, 2 rest periods for more than 6 to 10 hours of work in a day, 3 rest periods for more than 10 to 12 hours of work in a day, and so forth.   Contract professionals should take their rest periods in the middle of each work period to the extent practical to do so, and not combine them with meal periods or skip them to leave work early.    During meal and rest periods, contract professionals are entitled to be relieved of all duty and are free to spend this time as they choose.   Contract professionals are not required to remain on-premises or “on-call” during off-duty meal and rest periods.    Robert Half expects its clients to adhere to this policy.   If you feel that you were not provided a meal period or rest period that complies with this policy, inform your Robert Half manager, the branch director or Customer Service at 888-744-9202 or [email protected].
