We are looking for a dedicated Major Gifts Officer to join our nonprofit think tank based in Washington, District of Columbia. In this newly established role, you will play a pivotal part in advancing the organization's mission by cultivating relationships with major donors and securing significant contributions. Responsibilities:• Build and nurture relationships with major donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations, to secure significant contributions.• Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans aimed at targeting high-value donors.• Organize and oversee events and activities designed to attract and engage individual and corporate sponsors.• Maintain donor records, including tracking important dates such as birthdays, and arranging personalized gifts or messages.• Create compelling presentations and proposals to inspire existing and prospective donors.• Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Donor Development to execute fundraising initiatives and meet organizational goals.• Conduct research to identify potential donors and develop tailored strategies for outreach.• Monitor and analyze fundraising performance metrics to improve efforts and ensure success.• Serve as a visible representative of the organization in donor-facing activities and networking opportunities. • A minimum of 4 years of experience in donor development, fundraising, or related roles within the nonprofit or political sectors.• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced skills in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive messages.• Proven ability to manage donor relationships effectively and secure major gifts of $30,000 or more.• Strong organizational and planning skills, particularly in coordinating events and tracking donor information.• Stable and consistent work history demonstrating commitment and reliability.• Experience working with high-profile donors or Capitol Hill connections is highly desirable.
