Financial Crimes Analyst - Hybrid
<p>Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a <strong>Financial Crimes Analyst</strong> to support a <strong>special project</strong> focused on <strong>fraud detection, transaction monitoring, AML compliance, and customer risk review</strong>. This role will be responsible for reviewing potentially suspicious activity, investigating fraud alerts, performing KYC and due diligence activities, and helping ensure compliance with <strong>BSA/AML regulatory requirements</strong> and internal financial crimes policies. This is a HYBRID role. </p><p> </p><p>The ideal candidate will have experience in <strong>fraud operations, AML investigations, KYC/CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity review</strong> within a banking or financial services environment.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p> </p><ul><li>Review fraud, AML, and transaction monitoring alerts to identify unusual or suspicious activity.</li><li>Investigate flagged transactions, account activity, and customer behavior for potential fraud, money laundering, or other financial crimes concerns.</li><li>Conduct <strong>KYC, CIP, CDD, and EDD</strong> reviews for new and existing customers.</li><li>Analyze customer profiles, account history, transactional activity, and external research to assess risk.</li><li>Escalate potentially suspicious activity for case development and SAR consideration, as appropriate.</li><li>Support <strong>BSA/AML compliance efforts</strong> by adhering to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and project guidelines.</li><li>Perform sanctions and watchlist screening reviews, including OFAC-related alert handling where applicable.</li><li>Document investigations thoroughly and maintain accurate case notes in accordance with audit and regulatory standards.</li><li>Partner with compliance, fraud, operations, and risk teams to support issue resolution and case disposition.</li><li>Assist with quality control, remediation, backlog clearance, and project-based review work as needed.</li><li>Identify patterns, trends, and emerging fraud risks and escalate findings to leadership.</li><li>Ensure work is completed within required service-level expectations and productivity metrics.</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.</li><li><strong>3+ years of experience</strong> in one or more of the following areas: <strong>AML, KYC, BSA, fraud investigations, transaction monitoring, sanctions, or financial crimes compliance</strong>.</li><li>Banking or financial services industry experience required.</li><li>Strong understanding of <strong>BSA/AML regulations</strong>, fraud typologies, and customer due diligence requirements.</li><li>Experience reviewing alerts, conducting investigations, and documenting findings in case management systems.</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>SAR support</strong>, suspicious activity identification, and escalation processes.</li><li>Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to manage a high-volume workload in a deadline-driven environment.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and case management or compliance systems.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience supporting large financial institutions or enterprise banking projects.</li><li>Prior experience with <strong>fraud detection</strong>, debit/credit card fraud, account takeover, check fraud, wire fraud, or digital payment fraud.</li><li>Exposure to <strong>OFAC/sanctions screening</strong> and adverse media review.</li><li>CAMS, CFE, CFCS, or similar certification preferred.</li><li>Experience with tools such as Actimize, Verafin, LexisNexis, NICE, SAS, or similar financial crimes platforms.</li><li>Previous consulting, remediation, or project-based banking experience preferred.</li></ul><p><br></p>
