Staff Accountant
We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this role, you will focus on property management accounting, handling full-cycle accounting responsibilities for assigned properties and lease tenants. You will play a key role in preparing financial statements, supporting audits, and contributing to special projects within our dynamic organization.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage and maintain the general ledger for assigned properties, including preparing journal entries, recording expense accruals, and overseeing depreciation and amortization.<br>• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring proper approvals and timely collection of rents and other income.<br>• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.<br>• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for operating and reserve accounts, while monitoring cash flow for assigned properties.<br>• Interpret and apply lease agreements to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition, and assist with master lease renewals.<br>• Support external audit and tax processes by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.<br>• Assist with special projects such as the annual 1099 process, filing annual reports, and cross-training with other accounting staff.<br>• Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with organizational and accounting standards.<br>• Contribute to maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations by identifying and implementing improvements where needed.
• At least 2 years of experience in property accounting, real estate accounting, or public accounting with real estate clients.<br>• Proficiency in Yardi Breeze software and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.<br>• Strong understanding of general ledger management, journal entries, and financial reporting.<br>• Experience with corporate tax, sales tax, and tax returns.<br>• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.<br>• Familiarity with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit accounting practices is a plus.<br>• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.<br>• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
