Property Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this role, you will oversee the financial management of a portfolio of 12 properties, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with accounting principles. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with property managers and contribute to the seamless operation of a diverse portfolio.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Handle monthly accounting processes for a portfolio of 12 properties, ensuring timely and accurate completion.<br>• Conduct bank reconciliations using AppFolio and standardized checklists.<br>• Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and budget reports.<br>• Submit monthly financial packages for approval by the accounting manager.<br>• Collaborate with property managers to review income, expenses, and budgets by the 6th business day of each month.<br>• Post general and reclassifying journal entries to finalize monthly records.<br>• Compile summary financial reports for ownership groups by the 20th of each month.<br>• Utilize cash-basis accounting principles with minimal accrual and balance sheet work.<br>• Ensure compliance and accuracy in accounting practices while identifying and solving potential issues.
• Proven experience in property accounting, with a focus on cash-basis and minimal accrual accounting.<br>• Proficiency in AppFolio is required; transferable experience with Yardi is acceptable.<br>• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in financial reporting.<br>• Ability to apply accounting principles effectively and solve problems proactively.<br>• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including proficiency in basic formulas and spreadsheets.<br>• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with property managers and leadership.<br>• Ability to manage deadlines and deliver accurate reports in a fast-paced environment.
