<p>Our client is a mid-sized non-profit organization located near Mankato, MN that is looking to hire a Controller. This role is integral to overseeing comprehensive financial operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance. The Controller will manage key accounting processes, supervise department staff, and collaborate with external auditors to maintain the organization's financial integrity.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Provide leadership and oversight for the Finance Office, including functions such as general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, and endowment tracking.</p><p>• Prepare and submit financial statements, tax filings, and regulatory reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all deadlines.</p><p>• Manage the annual audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors and addressing any corrective actions.</p><p>• Evaluate and implement internal controls and financial procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with accounting standards.</p><p>• Monitor cash flow to maintain adequate reserves and optimize the investment of idle funds.</p><p>• Oversee the accurate accounting and reporting of investment activity and restricted funds.</p><p>• Provide financial insights to support budget creation, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.</p><p>• Foster collaboration and a culture of excellent customer service between the Finance Office and other departments.</p><p>• Ensure compliance with policies, government regulations, and accounting standards.</p><p>• Recruit, train, and manage Finance Office staff to maintain a high-performing team.</p>

<p>• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, with CPA certification preferred.</p><p>• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management.</p><p>• Proven expertise in GAAP and familiarity with accounting laws and regulations.</p><p>• Strong leadership skills, including experience managing automated accounting systems.</p><p>• Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications.</p><p>• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.</p><p>• Experience in public accounting is highly desirable.</p><p>Non-Profit or Education experience ideal.</p>
